Channel 4 recently made a show called: “Mums Make Porn,” here in the UK. A group of mothers were so disgusted by the “choice” on offer to their children, they decided to produce and direct their own X-rated film. Such an important show, Kyle. Thank you. I think so few speak up about the detriment of porn because we are so quickly labeled prude, or non-progressive, or behind-the-times. What lies. What jumped out at me from your talk was about how much potential is wasted when one is preoccupied with porn and the effect it has on one’s ability to interact healthily with other people. I think any addiction can do that, but the porn addiction seems more ridden with shame and secrets, setting one apart from others not involved. Isolation ahead. It’s simply promoting high risk behavior to ‘at risk’ groups in a way that makes it look like widespread behavior, to naive youngsters.
Vital information thank you. Years back, I believed pornography was cool and only squares or prudes took issue with it. Now I can so obviously see just how damaging it is. Pornography is an insidious poison.
That’s so interesting to me, that you once thought it was cool. I could not tolerate it from the first time I learned of it. In fact I only peeked at it once or twice just to see what was being sold, and that was years ago. I understand it’s gotten more debased and ugly. It always seemed to stab me in the stomach and then keep stabbing. It always seemed empty and sleazy, never wholesome or loving, and never correct. Indeed my hope is that the youth will be able to see through to the truth in regards to pornography and other agendas that objectify and dehumanize. The more debased it becomes, the more obvious it should be that healthy people don’t participate in this.
Got to thinking… It would be great if porn had its own “Walk Away” moment, where a growing understanding of its manipulations prompted a movement to disengage. I figure there’d be backlash, objection. “Speak for yourself, prude, we love our porn.” It is those who think they are in the most “progressive” place with all this sleaze who likely need the most help because they don’t know what they’ve been sold or what within themselves has been sacrificed or lost. A “Walk Away” movement is an excellent idea. In addition to exposing the jewish founders of the industry, it could focus on healthy and normal ways people can express their sexuality. The lgbtp agenda could be weaved into this as well and exposed for what it truly is: the normalization of child rape.
