actually, i think that hitler lure the german people in and then, give them the final blow by killing millions of them. it was not of the german people to go to russia. you know how is like: when a hasband beats his wife and someone from outside will interfere with their fighting, the hasband and wife will allies each other against the outside threat. even the russian people did not loved their government, they allies with their government to beat the outside threat.
Richard, the facts teach us that Russia was preparing a massive offensive against Europe. Russia was building up massive forces on its Western border complete with brand new airfields. The reason for Barbarossa was to strike a pre-emptive blow. To cripple the aggressor and neutralize the offensive threat. BTW, Russia at the time had been taken over by Communists who were routinely employing severely aggressive brain-washing techniques on its own population to enable them to stay in power. Exactly right! I don’t get that people are still trying to sell this. I did fall for the narrative a couple years ago, after Maidan, but came to my senses upon investigation. It’s like this argument that “Putin jailed oligarchs” that you hear all the time. That’s lying by grammatical manipulation. Plural vs. singular matters. He did not jail oligarchS. He jailed one. Regarding the use of the word ‘nationalism’: It would seem that Orwell’s “NEWSPEAK” and C.K. Odgen’s “Basic English” of our vocabulary being reduced to 850 words is well underway. Because we think thoughts with words, fewer words equates to less complex thoughts. And when words become universalized, they essentially become meaningless. The word ‘nationalism’ has become one of those words. Today it has come to mean virtually anything one wants it to mean. However in a broad sense, it has now become to mean ‘civic nationalism’.
