I don’t believe we are going to Mars. (Some pictures could still be real from ground or upper atmosphere) Instead space programs takes pictures of our deserts. Talk about milking the cattle. As for ancient tech. It is beyond me to make any proper judgement. But a lot of knowledge has been lost throughout the ages.
If done on our deserts it would raise even further questions about lost technology as it would raise the question for how long civilization has existed.
Also Mars having larger mountains etc is explained it is because it is smaller along with much thinner atmosphere, as such the mountains don’t get torn apart as quickly as here.
